Availability: 100 in stock

Description

This scarce medalet (token, pendant, or fob) is a souvenir of the 1909 Hudson-Fulton Celebration, the world's fair held in New York and New Jersey to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the discovery of the Hudson River by Henry Hudson and the centennial of Robert Fulton's first successful commercial application of the paddle steamer.
This specific item has become hard-to-find - perhaps rare.  The obverse has busts of Henry Hudson and Robert Fulton, with the words
HUDSON-FULTON CELEBRATION
along the rim.  The reverse has the words
NEW YORK   SEPT. 25TH TO OCT. 2
ND
1909
.  This item is holed as issued for use as a pendant or fob on a souvenir badge.
The composition is brass, with a bright light gilt surface treatment that partially remains on both sides.  The diameter is approximately 18 mm (nearly 3/4").
This item is in very fine condition overall, with fairly light wear, toning (with some remaining gilt), and some soiling, and it remains bright.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description.  NOTE:  The photos are not good.  This item has more detail, is more attractive, and is brighter than in the photos.
